Paramaribo is the capital city of Suriname. It is situated 15 kilometres in land from the Atlantic Ocean on the Suriname River and has a population of nearly 100,000. Its industries include paint, margarine, and cement factories and a brewery that makes beer from rice. Paramaribo also has a flourishing tourism industry.
