Trujillo is the capital of Trujillo province and La Libertad department in Peru. It is situated in the coastal desert 552 kilometres north-northwest of Lima and has a population of around 600,000. The irrigated lands of the surrounding Río Moche Valley produce sugarcane and rice. The city's industries include sugar refineries, knitting mills, and breweries.
