| What to wear |
In Vanuatu due to the tropical climate light clothing such as shorts, tee shirts and sandals are recommended. Being in the tropics, it is always advisable to have a rain coat handy. A jacket or jumper may be required at night when the temperature drops. |
| Visas |
International visitors to Vanuatu are required to be in possession of a valid passport, however, visas are not required from most countries: (the exemptions are, All commonwealth countries, Belgium, Denmark, Eire, Fiji, France and its dominions, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Philippines, Taiwan, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, U.S.A.) However you must have a valid, ongoing or return airline ticket and your Passport must be valid for four months beyond your intended stay. For those requiring visas, application should be made at the nearest Vanuatu embassy or consulate. |
| Health |
Medical facilities are limited. The nearest reliable medical treatment is in Australia or New Zealand. There is a hyperbaric recompression chamber in Luganville, on Espiritu Santo Island, however diving-related injuries may require medical evacuation to Australia or New Zealand. Malaria is prevalent in some areas. Serious injuries requiring hospitalization and/or medical evacuation can cost thousands of dollars. Doctors and hospitals often expect immediate cash payment for their services. Suitable medical travel insurance is essential. |
