| What to wear |
On Pitcairn Island it is normal to wear informal western style dress. Due to the heavy rainfall on the island waterproof clothing is advisable. As you are likely to go most places on foot, good quality hiking boots are also recommended. |
| Visas |
International visitors to Pitcairn Island need to be in possession of a valid passport and must apply in writing for a licence to land and reside. It should be noted that it may take up to six months for approval to be received due to the remoteness of the Island. Applications for a Licence to land and reside can be obtained by clicking here. Special Note: There is no scheduled forms of transport to the island, you must either charter a vessel or catch a ride on a passing ship. |
| Health |
Registered medical practitioners are employed on the island from time to time for periods of between two and six months. At other times the general health of the community is in the care of a registered nurse working out of the community's Health Centre. Medical travel insurance is essential, if you can find a company to provide cover for this remote location. |
