Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand. Nestled between the lush green hills and a picturesque harbour this compact city of only 2 square kilometres boasts all the attractions one would associate with much larger cities. Even though the city  houses a population of less than 160,000 it is quickly gaining a reputation as a great conference venue, with it's high quality accommodation and venues and it's reputation as a fun city.
Banks in Wellington operate from 9-30am to 4-30pm Monday to Friday only, however there are many ATMs around the city which will take international credit cards as long as you have a pin number. Shops and businesses operate from 9-00am to 5-00pm Monday to Friday, although many shops open on Saturdays.
It may also be of interest to travellers to know that there are no poisonous or dangerous wild animals in New Zealand.
