Noumea is the the capital city of New Caledonia. It is in fact the only city in the island group. Businesses and shops in the city are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 11:30am and again from 1:30pm to 6:00pm and on Saturday the city centre shops are open from 8:00am to 11:00am. Almost everything is closed on Sundays except for a few cafes and restaurants. Post Offices and Banks are open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm.
