| What to wear |
In Kiribati due to the tropical climate light clothing such as shorts, tee shirts and sandals are recommended. Being in the tropics, it is always advisable to have a rain coat handy. Women should not go out in shorts or short dresses especially on the outer islands. Bathing costumes for men and women should be modest, wearing of bikinis is frowned upon. |

International visitors to Kiribati are required to be in possession of a valid passport and visa to obtain entry into the country. (UK Citizens and Pacific Islanders are exempt from needing a visa) A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers coming from infected areas. Visas are issued Kiribati Consular offices. |
| Health |
International visitors to Kiribati should note that Hepatitis A and hepatitis B are reported. Diarrhoeal diseases are common. Dengue fever, including its haemorrhagic form, occurs in epidemics. Diptheria, poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, and typhoid may all occur. It is advisable to have vaccinations travelling to this area Check with your local doctor or view the CDC web site for further information. Health insurance is strongly recommended. Tungaru Central Hospital on Tarawa provides medical service to all the islands. Government dispensaries on all islands are equipped to handle minor ailments and injuries. Visitors are advised to bring their own supply of basic medicines with them. |
