Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan State. It is situated in north west India, some 260 kilometres south west of New Delhi and has a population of around 1.5 million. Jaipur has major road, rail, and air connections and is a commercial trade centre. Industries include engineering and metalworking, handloom weaving, distilling, and the manufacture of glass, hosiery, carpets, blankets, shoes, and drugs. It's famous arts and crafts include the making of jewelry, enamel, metalwork, and printed cloths, as well as stone, marble, and ivory carving.
