Shenyang is the capital city of the Liaoning Province in the northeast of China. The city is the fifth largest in China, 13,000 square kilometres, with a population in excess of 5 million people. It is the economic, cultural, financial and commercial centre of Northeast China. Shenyang has an advanced railway and highway system, connecting it with the nearby steel-city Anshan, coal-city Fushun, iron-city Benxi and electricity-city Fuxin, forming a concentrated industrial city group.
