Tobruk is a major city and port in Libya. It is situated on the Mediterranean coast in the far north east of the country and has a population of around 50,000.  It is Libya's only natural harbour. Its main industry is  a port terminal linked by a pipeline to the Sarir oil fields which are 520 kilometres to the south.
