Malabo is the capital city of Equatorial Guinea. It is situated on the north coast of the island of Bioko and has a population of around 40,000. It is the republic's commercial and financial centre. Its harbour can dock several ships, and the main activity is the export of cocoa, timber, and coffee. It also has an international airport with air links to Bata, in continental Equatorial Guinea.
