Port Said is a major city and port in Egypt. It is situated at the northern end of the Suez Canal in the north east of the country and has a population of around 400,000. The city's industries produce textiles, clothing, glass, china, automobile batteries and tires, watches, and cosmetics. It has several gas-fired electrical generating plants, as well as computer, construction, and publishing industries. There are also port and shipyard facilities.
