Djibouti is the capital city of the Republic of Djibouti. It is situated on the southern shore of the Gulf of Tadjoura and has a population of around 350,000. It is a  major port for the country. Its economy is dependant on being an intermediary centre of trade and transhipment especially between Ethiopia and the Red Sea trade and as a refuelling and supply station.
