Lubumbashi is a major city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is situated in the south east of the country near the Zambian border and has a population of around 900,000. It is a transportation centre for mineral products such as copper, cobalt, zinc, cadmium, germanium, tin, manganese, and coal which are mined in the surrounding areas. The city's other industries include printing, brewing, flour milling, and the production of confectionery, cigarettes, brick, and soap.
