Yamoussoukro is the capital city of Cote d'Ivoire. It is situated 274 kilometres north west of Abidjan and has a population of around 130,000. It is a major urban centre with a dense infrastructure of roads and public utilities. The fishing, forestry, and perfume industries play important roles in the town's economy. The city houses the assembly hall of the nation's only political party, the Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire
