Bangui is the capital city of the Central African Republic. It is situated on the west bank of the Ubangi River in the south west of the country and has a population of around 650,000. Its industries include soapmaking and breweries, but the town is mainly a commercial and administrative centre. The river port development includes a quay and an oil port downstream. Cotton, timber, coffee, and sisal are shipped from the port. |
