Porto-Novo is the capital city of Benin. It is situated on a coastal lagoon on the Gulf of Guinea at the extreme south east of the country and has a population of around 220,000. The city is the administrative capital of the government of Benin. It is connected by road and rail to the nation's main industrial centre at Cotonou and by road to Lagos, Nigeria. Numerous African artisans and guilds are based in the city. |
